Rasquera Fiesta Major

May 11, 2026 All day

Date: Weekend nearest May 11, 2026
Location: Rasquera village center
Distance: 10 minutes by car

Rasquera, one of our closest riverside neighbors along the Ebro, celebrates its annual Fiesta Major honoring its patron saint. This small village festival offers an intimate, authentic celebration of local culture and community bonds.

The village shares the same Ebro Valley character as Benifallet—quiet, traditional, and genuinely welcoming. The festival typically includes religious processions, live music performances in the village square, traditional Catalan dancing, sports competitions, and activities for children and families.

Highlight: Rasquera is known for having one of the oldest correfocs in the Terres de l’Ebre region (since 1983). The fire run features the village’s distinctive beasts—lo Fardatxo (dragon), l’Afaram, and la Guita—accompanied by invited devil groups from neighboring towns. The plantada (display of all fire beasts) happens around 8 PM, with the correfoc starting at 9 PM, creating a spectacular evening of fire, drums, and community celebration.

The scale is deliberately small and community-focused—this is neighbors celebrating together, not a production designed for tourism. The short distance from our finca (just 10 minutes) makes this the easiest festival excursion. You could walk or cycle to Rasquera if you’re feeling adventurous—the river road offers beautiful Ebro Valley views and relatively gentle terrain.
